History

Alpha Kappa Psi is the world's oldest and largest co-ed professional business fraternity. We were founded in 1904 at New York University by our 10 founding members. Alpha Kappa Psi has been a presence on the Ole Miss campus since the early 50's. However, the Rho Tau chapter was established in 2000 and since then we have been able to welcome hundreds of members to share the values and opportunities that Alpha Kappa Psi provides. The Rho Tau Chapter is one of the largest chapters in the world bosting over 200 members. Members of Alpha Kappa Psi have held almost every major political position in the United States, including the presidency and vice-presidency. Many members have gained notable positions on boards of directors and executive management teams of some of the world's most well known companies. Notable alumni include Ronald Reagan (former U.S. President), Richard Nixon (former U.S. President), Joyce C. Hall (founder, Hallmark Cards), Samuel F. Hinkle, president (The Hershey Company), Harrison Jones (chairman, The Coca-Cola Company).

 

Requirements

As with most greek organizations the pledgeship process is an integral part of the Alpha Kappa Psi experience. All potential members must have a 2.75 gpa to be considered for pledgeship as well as be availble every Tuesday night from 7pm to 8pm for weekly pledge meetings. As a pledge you will pay a total of $200 which will be split between two equal payments of $100. There will be a total of 4 quizzes which includes a final cumulative exam over the history of our fraternity which you will learn over the course of pledgeship. During your pledgeship you will learn how to create an effective resume, build valuable skills in interviewing and organization.
